Ingredients:
- 1 liter whole milk
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup semolina (fine)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Chopped pistachios or walnuts (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- In a large saucepan, heat the milk and sugar over medium heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Do not boil.
- In a separate pan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the semolina and stir continuously until it turns golden brown and fragrant (about 5-7 minutes).
- Slowly pour the warm milk mixture into the semolina while stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
- Continue cooking on low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens to a pudding-like consistency (about 10-15 minutes).
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the mixture into serving bowls or a shallow dish. Let it cool and set.
- Garnish with chopped pistachios or walnuts if desired.
- Serve warm or at room temperature.
