Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 packet (7g) instant yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the filling:

  • 1/2 cup poppy seeds, ground
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually add flour and knead until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise for about 1 hour, until doubled in size.
  4. Meanwhile, mix ground poppy seeds, sugar, melted butter, and milk to prepare the filling.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Spread the poppy seed filling evenly over the dough.
  6. Roll the dough tightly from one end to the other, forming a log.
  7. Cut into slices and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  8. Let the rolls rise for another 20-30 minutes.
  9. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Cool slightly before serving.
